The Biography of Aisha bint Abu Bakr (RA)

Aisha bint Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with her) was the wife of Prophet Muhammad ﷺ and the daughter of Abu Bakr As-Siddiq (RA), the first Caliph of Islam. She is one of the most famous women in Islamic history and is honored with the title “Umm al-Mu’minin” (Mother of the Believers).

Her Birth and Family

Aisha was born in Makkah around the year 614 CE (about four years before the Hijrah).

Her father was Abu Bakr As-Siddiq (RA), the closest companion of the Prophet ﷺ, and her mother was Umm Ruman (RA).

She grew up in a household filled with faith and truthfulness. From a young age, she became known for her intelligence and sharp memory.

Her Marriage and Life with the Prophet ﷺ

Aisha married Prophet Muhammad ﷺ after the migration to Madinah.

She was the only virgin wife of the Prophet ﷺ.

She lived with the Prophet ﷺ for about nine years until his passing.

Her Knowledge and Wisdom

Aisha was highly knowledgeable and narrated over 2,210 hadiths.

Companions and scholars used to seek her guidance, especially in matters of fiqh (Islamic jurisprudence), hadith, and issues related to women.

She was described as the most knowledgeable among the women of her time.

Her Role in Islamic History

Aisha was involved in significant events, including the Incident of Ifk, during which the Qur’an declared her innocence (in Surah An-Nur).

Her Death

Aisha lived in Madinah until her death in 678 CE (58 AH).

She was buried in Al-Baqi Cemetery in Madinah, and she remains a beloved figure and a teacher for the Muslim Ummah.
